Performing Arts - Drama

As part of its Performing Arts Program, TKC offers Drama in Yrs 2 – 6, and Drama Programs in Secondary School.

Years 7 – 10

In early upper school students study the foundation of drama from Greeks to the present day.

Years 11 – 12

Students in Years 11 and 12 can elect to do 2AB Drama and 3AB Drama (which is the university entrance level of drama and part of the WACE courses of study). As part of the drama program students also study directing, stage management, directing, scenography, lighting, sound, costume, and publicity. Upper school mini productions – part of the Arts Festival

Yr 11 & 12 students stage a production at TKC each year, which typically runs for an hour and a half. These are hosted at the Freeway Auditorium. The Arts Festival is performed to the whole school, and parents and friends are also invited to attend. Past productions have included Alice in Wonderland, The Nutcracker and Pride & Prejudice.

TKC major drama productions

Every second year a Major Production is undertaken that extends from 2-2.5 hours. These productions are extravaganzas where all Years at TKC participate. These are hosted at the Freeway Auditorium over two nights. The Major Productions are open for students, families, friends and the public to attend. Past hits directed by our Drama Teacher Ms Hazel Pannell have included Esther, and The Magician’s Nephew.

Performances

Our Years 10-12 students attend a live performance each year. These are usually hosted at the Burswood Theatre. The purpose is to allow students to experience a full-scale play. Past performances have included Mary Poppins, Mamma Mia, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Hamlet, and Phantom of the Opera.
