It is with great pride and excitement that we welcome Ps Michael Battersby to The King’s College teaching staff as our newly appointed Director of music.
Known throughout WA for his creative talents and musical accomplishments, Michael is also an exemplary educator, performance coach and ministry leader who brings decades of creative and pastoral experience to our passionate ever-growing staff family. Michael and his wife Linda were instrumental in launching and developing the Worship Academy at metrochurch (where they served as Associate pastors for over 20 years).
Michael has had 30 years experience in the entertainment industry as a consummate performer (working with renowned artists such as Michael Bolton, Natalie Cole, Tina Arena, James Morrison, Andrae Crouch, Alvin Slaughter, Darlene Zschech, Joel Houston, Don Mclean, and jazz great – Dizzy Gillespie).
After graduating from the Academy of Performing arts with honours in Jazz, receiving distinctions from Bible College studies, managing the music program at St Stephens’ school and pursuing extensive training and development credentials, Michael has coupled together his 4 passions – music, teaching, personal development and church!!
Towards this end Michael has led city-wide worship events like Church Together, hosted the Hillsong Conference Creative Directors Faculty, and served as conference director at Worship Summit and Just Worship events. For 20 years, Michael led and trained a team of 100 dedicated musicians and singers which produced 14 Original Praise and Worship albums and 3 Jazz Albums.
Michael was recently selected as a Yamaha Artist and the University choir he directs was awarded “Best National HR Initiative”. He has a Masters degree in Education and is currently completing a Doctorate in Music Performance Psychology at UWA.
One of his primary goals is to see world class music and worship developed within The Kings College; equipping and releasing the next generation of God-glorifying artists and worshippers.
