What it is all about?
The Emergency Services Cadet Corp at The King’s College provides a challenging, diverse and rewarding program for secondary students from Years 7-12. Students gain valuable skills and learn how to be active citizens in the community. As Cadets, students learn about the diverse nature of WA’s emergency services. They also help promote public awareness in management of emergencies at both a local and state level.
Emergency Service Cadets undertake core training modules and support these with an extensive range of electives. Core modules include:
- First aid and emergency care
- Radio communication
- Fire safety and basic fire fighting
- Search and rescue techniques
- Boating and water safety
- Map reading and navigation
- Field craft and camping
- Leadership and instructional training
Who is involved?
The Fire and Emergency Services Authority of WA is the host organization of The King’s College ESC. Our unit works closely with the Fire and Rescue Service, State Emergency Service, Bush Fire Service and Volunteer Marine Rescue Services located in the Kwinana/Rockingham area.
